Haryana anti-cattle slaughter activist's kin to get Rs. 5 lakh from state coffer

The Haryana government has released Rs.5 lakh for the kin of anti-cattle slaughter activist Vikrant Yadav from the chief minister's relief fund, an official said Sunday.

The bank draft of this amount has reached the Gurgaon district administration and it will be handed over to the family members of Vikrant who died Aug 25 while chasing cattle smugglers.

Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi said the matter of naming Jamalpur Chowk after Vikrant Yadav was in the process and it would take some more time.

The Chowk will be renamed after the state government issues notification in this regard.

On the other hand, two companies of CRPF and BSF along with commandos from the Haryana Police Sunday staged a flag march in Pataudi and Farukhnagar areas.

SDM Pataudi Manoj Khatri said two companies of para military forces had reached Pataudi area Saturday while two more companies of CRPF and BSF arrived Sunday which were kept in reserve in Gurgaon. He said the situation in the region was under control.

Protestors Friday torched at least 67 vehicles in Pataudi and Dharuhera areas and blocked the Delhi-Jaipur national highway for hours to protest against cow slaughter.
